A Killer-Cop Hunts Down a Cop-Killer in "Blitz"

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling like we could use a bit more of a favourite "tough-guy" actor of mine, Jason Statham before the end of this year. Although The Mechanic [2011] wasn't bad, and not to mention memorable in its own right, I didn't enjoy it all that much. Probably because I tend to like Statham more when he's not an overpowered action hero.

So check this out, a movie already released in the States, though we'll only be seeing it in our cinemas sometime in mid-June. A movie entitled Blitz, promoted as a Crime thriller.

From the looks of it, this might just be more like Se7en [1995] rather than Statham's famous venture in The Transporter movies. More brains than brawns, of you will.

Based on a novel, the movie tells the tale of two policemen with troubled past, who partners up to hunt down a serial killer who brutally murders police officers as a mean to achieve tabloid immortality. Or rather, someone who kills just because.

Joining Statham is character actor Paddy Considine, whom I only recognise for his comedic role in 2007 Edgar Wright movie, Hot Fuzz and also his brief role as a reporter in The Bourne Ultimatum, released that same year. I know that makes him hardly worth a mention here, but I'm just curious to see more of him.

I see little else to be excited about, but then again I regard this movie as one of those "filler" movies while I wait for the blockbusters to be released. Details on the movie are as followed;

Release Date : June 16th, 2011 (Malaysia)
Director : Elliott Lester
Starring : Jason Statham, Paddy Considine, Aiden Gillen, Zawe Ashton
