Breakthrough Roles #9

The last time this happened to me was back in September 22nd, 2011, when I was flipping through the channels. Well, it kinda happened again, the only difference... I was actually watching Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement [2004]. Not that I was traipsing down memory lane or anything, I'm not even a fan of the first one (not to say I hated it, though).

By the way, is it just me, or the movie wouldn't be quite as popular had it not been for Anne Hathaway starring in the lead role? I'm thinkin' that's the reason because she's stunningly beautiful. I'm a sucker for big, bambi eyes. *ahem* How are you doin', girlfriend?

So I was watching the aforementioned movie, well... Not really watching, more like staring at the screen without really paying attention, until this guy came along;

Why Yoda Shouldn't Be a Navigator

Whoever made this... Good one! LOL

4. Good acting
5. Annoying film score

What NOT to Expect
1. A courtroom drama
2. Much intellect
If you have nothing better to see

The Star Wars That I Used to Know

A lil' something I came across when that hoax about Gotye's death spread across the internet. I will fully admit right now that I bought it, mostly due to shock because... Well, he didn't seem like the type to commit suicide. But then again, you can't always tell when someone's genuinely depressed. Ah well... Good to know he's fine and well. I'm not really a fan, but hey, his signature song is catchy as hell.

This has got to be my favourite cover of that song, and it pretty much summed up why fans of Star Wars hate the prequels so much. Enjoy!

Mael Lambong [2012]

Director: Ahmad Idham
Starring: Zizan Razak, Julianna Evans, Taiyudin Bakar, Shenthy Feliziana
Genre: Bullshit
Rating: General
Comment: "A good one to watch if you're in need of a headache..."

Synopsis
Notorious car transporter Mael Lambong (Zizan Razak) is in way over his head when Maria (Juliana Evans), a beautiful woman who claims to be a secret agent, hires him to aid her in her mission to protect a microchip from falling into the wrong hands. What begins as a straightforward escort mission turns into a nightmare for him when they somehow end up in his hometown, forcing him to revisit a depressing chapter of his life.

What to Expect
1. An interesting (enough) premise
2. Zizan not being Zizan (half the time, at least)
3. Exactly two crafted jokes, and one running joke
4. A sharp decline after the exposition
5. A notable fight scene
6. A movie made for a quick buck

What NOT to Expect
1. To get your money's worth
2. A huge departure from the likes of Hantu Bonceng
A waste

I Didn't Think It Was a Real Movie...

Movie Title: Wreck-It Ralph
Release Date: November 29th, 2012 (Malaysia)
Director: Rich Moore
Starring: John C. Reilly, Jane Lynch, Jack McBrayer, David Hyde Pierce, Sarah Silverman

When I saw a promotional clip of Wreck-It Ralph some time ago, I thought it was one of those fan-made short films because... Well, look at that still again. There are characters like M. Bison and Bowser (like I even need to state here what video games they're from) and more in the trailer! Sure, not that I thought it was impossible. I just figured that whole business with licensing would have Disney lawyers shake their heads in unison.

Well, I'm wrong!

Turns out Wreck-It Ralph is very much a real movie, and though the story may not be anything out of the ordinary as far as Disney movies are concerned; It seems to be in the same vein as Chicken Run [2005], Meet the Robinsons [2007] and Bolt [2008]. Not that those movies were bad, somehow they were just too kiddie to interest the child in me. However, I think I'd go for Wreck-It Ralph because I think they might have done it this time. I bet everyone who grew up in the '80s and '90s are gonna get all nostalgic.
