Damn You, "TotallyLooksLike.com"!

So Abduction played on TV yesterday. I tried watching it with a straight face, but dammit I kept giggling like a moron because I was reminded of this whenever Taylor Lautner was onscreen.

Which is to say, all the time. You can't really see it in that photo, but the resemblance is rather uncanny if you were to watch the movie. Especially when he furrows his eyebrows, or squints. I didn't get the chance to watch Abduction until the end, so I'm really hoping it would play again on TV pretty soon. Not because I think it's good. If anything, I think it's corny, although I did have high hopes for the movie prior to it coming out.

Naw. I just have major hots for Lily Collins. I practically grew up with her dad's music, but I love her for a different reason entirely.

Owh yeah.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey [2012]

Director: Peter Jackson
Starring: Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Aidan Turner, Ken Stott, Andy Serkis
Genre: Fantasy/Adventure
Rating: General
Comment: "About as entertaining as James Cameron's Avatar [2009], which is to say it's all flash with little substance..."

Synopsis
Taking place before Frodo's (Elijah Wood) own epic adventure, Bilbo Baggins (Ian Holm) recounts his younger days when he too, embarked on a journey that was much bigger than he was, both figuratively and literally. It all started just like any other day, until a wizard by the name of Gandalf (Ian McKellen) came knocking on his door. He brought along with him a band of thirteen spirited dwarves, under the leadership of the dwarf prince Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage). Together, they marched to the former dwarven kingdom located at the Lonely Mountain. They vowed to reclaim it from a dragon named Smaug, or die trying.

What to Expect
1. More walking
2. To be more LOTR than LOTR (I'll explain)
3. Beautiful set pieces and visuals
4. One-note characters
5. Deus ex machinas
6. Everybody's a scumbag

What NOT to Expect
1. Tight pacing
2. Injuries
3. Andy Serkis to disappoint
Good enough for what it was, no less no more.

Recognise This Guy? I didn't...

Don't worry, this is not one of those cheap tabloid media tricks. I'm not gonna start by saying things like "This particular celebrity is addicted to heroin!" or "This particular celebrity have AIDS!". Only to end it somewhere near the bottom of the page with "But no worries, it's just a movie role" or something like that. No, I'm gonna flat out tell you that this fellas did what he did for a movie role... And I find it shocking for two reasons.

One;

I know what you're thinking...

"Aney, Bagi Cupcake Satu!"

I believe that's the first time I've ever wrote the title of a blog post in Malay...-ish. Not to mention there will be slang words as well as colloquial terms, because there's no way to do this entry without 'em. Not a problem at all, really. Just a a lil' something for me to ponder upon.

Before I go on, I gotta give a shout out and a huge thanks to Grand Brilliance for inviting a small-time blogger like me to their press conference.

Alright. On November 21st, details of their latest offering were revealed; a movie entitled Mamak Cupcake. Yes, it's exactly what you think it is. Mamak Cupcake follows main character MJ, played by Shaheizy Sam (I know, I'll get to that later), who is about a mamak who wants to bake cupcakes for a living. However, being the heir of a mapley restaurant chain forces him to bury that dream of his. Until one day, that spark is once again reignited when he meets a girl named Juliana, played by Siti Saleha ♥.
